Every month this summer we will be holding fundraisers for the Alzheimer’s Association.  Tuesday, July 20th from 10am to 4pm we will have a Baked Potato Bar and Bake Sale in our lobby area.  Please stop by and support this great cause.  If you would like to donate baked goods, please contact Hilee Jackson at hjackson@ssmoministries.org or (503) 718-5316.

Maryville has a sports day planned for Thursday, July 15th in our main lounge starting at 10:30am.  We wil have a  basketball hoop, bowling game, horse shoes, and golf.  Please join us for the fun!

Helen Dishman was crowned Maryville’s Rose Festival Queen for 2010.   Helen, along with her court, Nadine Yeldig, Lorraine Fenwick, and Maggie Merkel, will represent Maryville in the Beaverton Parade. 

Congratulations to Maria Hernandez who was chosen as Employee of the Month for June 2010.  Maria was born in California and moved to Oregon at age 15 (isn’t Maryville lucky?).  She has been a Certified Nursing Assistant at Maryville since December of 2008.  Kudos to Maria for her excellent attendance and on-time arrival at work.  She is always willing to help her co-workers, in other words, she is a good team player.  Maria is flexible and willing to float to different units and shifts as needed.  She admits that she loves being a CNA. 

Maria is the mother of four children and loves being with her family.  She also likes to bake, cook, play soccer, and dance.  Dancing is where she met her husband.  Maria is fun loving and has a contagious smile.  Congratulations Maria!!

Maryville’s 47th Anniversary is on Friday, June 4th, and we will be celebrating with a BBQ for our noon meal. 

Everyone is welcome to attend. 

Every year Maryville chooses a princess from each unit to   represent our facility.  One princess will be crowned Queen on Friday, June 11 at 1:30pm.  The court will participate in the Beaverton Parade on September 18th and ride the Maryville float.

Be sure to stop by the front desk where you can view this year’s court.  All are welcome to vote for the 2010 Queen.

As the weather gets warmer, residents and staff at Maryville get in the mood for gardening.  We will be planting some tomatoes and other vegetables in big planter boxes and putting them in our main courtyard, off the lounge/dining room area.  If you would like to help out or donate some containers, please contact Hilee Jackson at (503) 718-5316 or hjackson@ssmoministries.org
