Maryville Roofing Project

maryville_roofIf the bright orange cones and heavy machinery haven’t tipped you off, Maryville Nursing Home is undergoing a partial roof repair. The roofing project consists of two phases that will complete the installation of a new metal roof, a project that began more than 10 years ago.

Phase I, which is currently underway, includes the north, east and a portion of the south roof of the 45-year-old building. It is slated to be completed in the beginning of May. Phase II is scheduled for the 2009-10 fiscal year. It will replace the roof over the center and the remainder of the south side of the building.

The new metal roof, which has a 30-year warranty, will prevent ponding (pooling of water) and moss growth, and holds up better against sun damage.

Community Day

Every year the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon celebrate their Founders.  The theme this year is “Service with Excellence”.  Maryville shares in this experience and reflects on the theme as to how this applies to our lives and work.  We will have a program in the main lounge on Wednesday, March 25 at 10:30am to celebrate this special event.

Spirit Mountain Day Trip

Maryville residents will have the opportunity to go to Spirit Mountain Casino on Friday, March 20th.  This is a very popular activity that the residents really look forward to.  Best of luck to all.

St. Patrick’s Day Events

Get your green on or you will get a pinch!  Our first event of the day begins with Marie from the Beaverton Library.  She has some very special things planned for the residents.  At 10:30am, we have entertainment (Irish Fiddling) in the main lounge.  In the afternoon at 1:30pm, students from Valley Catholic Elementary School will be by to sing and share in some refreshments.  Come by to join in the fun on this festive day!

Gardening Project

This year we will get a head start on our gardening with the help of 6th grade students from Holy Trinity school.  Students will visit the first two Wednesdays of March and will help decorate cups to plant seeds in.  The students will take them back to school and care for them until they are ready to bring back and plant in flower pots at Maryville.

Maryville appreciates the students help in making our grounds even more beautiful.  Spring is a wonderful time of year!

Time to Spring Ahead

It is that time of year once again.  Sunday, March 8th Daylight Savings time begins, so remember to set your clocks one hour ahead.

March Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Kristine Caranto who was chosen as Maryville’s March Employee of the Month!  Kristine was selected because of her diligence and hard work.  She is loved by the residents and their families.  She always has a smile and a ready hand to help.  Kristine has worked at Maryville since November of 2005.

Our thanks to Kristine for putting the residents first and sharing her love with us all at Maryville.
