Congratulations to Leticia Salinas for being selected as Employee of the Month for September. Leticia works as a CNA in the West Unit. Leticia is married and has 2 young children. She was hired at Maryville in July 1998.

Leticia is a wonderful, dedicated, and hard working person. He takes her job seriously, rendering quality care and striving for excellence in all she does. She is a great team player, always willing to help her co-workers. Leticia is always neat and helps her residents look their best as well.

Residents and families express their appreciation for what a great job she does. Maryville is fortunate to have Leticia caring for our residents. She is truly deserving of this recognition!

BBQ at Maryville on Sept. 14th

Maryville will hold its last BBQ of the summer on Tuesday, Sept. 14th, during the lunch hour. All residents and family members are welcome to attend. Join us for hamburgers, hotdogs and all the fixin’s.

Beaverton Parade, Sept. 18th

“A Vision of the Future” is this years theme for the Beaverton parade. As we do every year, Maryville will decorate a float and be a part of this fun event. Our Rose Festival Queen, Helen Dishman, and her court will be riding on the float. We encourage anyone interested in participating to contact Hilee Jackson at (503) 718-5316, or email hjackson@ssmoministries.org. We would love to have you join us!! We need volunteers to walk the parade route with us and hand out candy, as well as volunteers to help decorate the float.

Bake Sale on Friday, Sept. 10th

Maryville will hold it’s final fundraiser of the year for the Alzheimers Association on Friday, Sept. 10th. We will be having a bake sale in the lobby from 10am-4pm. In addition, our residents will be participating in our own Memory Walk to the music of the Valley Catholic Jazz Band at 1:30pm. Come join in the fun!

2 Resident Outings in August

August is an exciting month for our residents at Maryville. We have 2 day trips planned. Friday, August 12th is our annual beach trip. We will be leaving Maryville by 10am on the RAZ bus. If you are interested in accompanying your family member, please contact Hilee Jackson at (503) 718-5316, or hjackson@ssmoministries.org.

Friday, August 20th is the Gorge trip. We will check out the wind surfers, have a BBQ, and find a nice beachy area to sit along the river and watch all the activities. The busses will leave by 10am. If you are interested in attending, please contact Hilee Jackson.

August Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Flory Buckner who was chosen as August’s Employee of the Month! Flory is one of the nurses on West Unit and began working at Maryville in February 2009. She is married and has 2 children. Flory enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities. She used to work for the World Wildlife Fund and was able to to travel to remote communities.

Flory is loved by staff and Maryville residents and families. She goes above and beyond what is expected to make sure everyone is happy, feels heard, and taken care of. Her calm, professional manner makes things run smoothly. She is continually working at keeping things organized and tackling all the little details so everything remains under control and well handled. Flory leads west unit and coordinates her co-workers. Her supervisors are confident that the residents are well cared for. They know if they want something done right and on time, Flory will see to it. She is dedicated towards her profession and our facility. We are lucky she chose Maryville to work at. She is truly an asset to our nursing home.

Join “Team Maryville”

Maryville has a team that will walk in the annual Memory Walk for the Alzheimers Association. We welcome anyone to join us in the fun. The walk will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26th at 10am. You can meet us downtown at Pioneer Courthouse Square, or there will be a group meeting in the lobby of Maryville at 9am and we will carpool to the max station. July Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Tina Bryan who was selected as Employee of the Month for July 2010. Tina began working at Maryville in August 2008 and works in Activities and Central Supply.

Tina has been very helpful in Activities with creative classes, sensory programs, and with the residents in our Memory Care Unit. She is always cheerful and eager to help the residents any way she can. She has a calm way about her that the residents respond nicely to. Tina has a strong work ethic and makes sure her duties are done in the best possible way. She is very organized and uses her time well. Tina’s compassion is so evident when watching her interact with the residents.

Tina’s supervisor in Central Supply says that she is the best assistant ever. She is pro-active and always sees what needs to be done. Tina is dependable and extremely efficient. Her excellent computer skills have enabled Central Supply to implement new and improved ways of managing the department.

Tina and her husband have been married for 20 years and they have two children that attend Valley Catholic Schools. Maryville is very fortunate to have Tina as part of our “Service with Love” team. Congratulations Tina!

Gone Fishing

Our annual fishing trip will be held on Friday, July 9th. We will be going to Lee’s U Catch once again to enjoy the outdoors, have a picnic lunch, and hopefully catch a few fish. We will meet in the lobby at 9am and be leaving by 10am. Family members are welcome to join in the fun.
